The laid table, finished by you
I'm Lieke, the creator and maker behind Luminlique. With my brand I want to make the world around the laid table more beautiful. What started as a hobby in a cosy kitchen in Brabant quickly grew into a colourful creation that puts a smile on many people's faces.
From kitchen lab to…
My journey began in 2020, when I decided to leave my permanent job. That search for inspiration went differently than planned when a hernia operation forced me to come to a complete stop for a while. It was during that recovery that the idea for my own business began to grow.
My kitchen soon turned into a laboratory. I was determined to work with rapeseed wax, which was quite a puzzle for the stacking candles I wanted to make. After a lot of experimenting I found the right formula. When the first candles sold out straight away in my mother's shop, I knew: this is it.
Growth and conscious choices
In the beginning I made every candle myself, but that soon became too much. To safeguard the quality, I moved to professional production.
Today we work with a specialised factory in Bulgaria and with social workshops, where people who are distanced from the labour market make the candles with a lot of love. I deliberately choose Europe: it is better for the planet, and this way I know for sure that working conditions are good.
The name
Lumière, Lieke, unique
The name combines the French word lumière (light), my own name Lieke and unique. Together they capture the essence of what I do: a celebration of light and individuality. Have you spotted the NL in the logo? That is where Luminlique comes from.
From field to design
Rapeseed wax
Those endless fields of yellow flowers? That's rapeseed. A beautiful crop that bees and insects love too. For our candles we use the wax of this European powerhouse: plant-based and biodegradable. And because it grows right here in Europe, we keep CO2 emissions low.
We carry that love for nature through the whole collection. From cardboard to ceramics: we choose materials that last or can be recycled after use.
Handmade with love
Our special team
Our items are shaped and finished by hand, from careful pouring to peeling the shapes out of the moulds. That is why no two pieces are the same. For this work we partner with social workshops, where people who are distanced from the labour market work on our collection with joy and dedication.

At this training workplace in Moergestel, young people prepare our displays and hooks with great precision. A safe base for those who got stuck in a school setting, and a springboard back to school or work.

Opportunities behind the walls
In-Made
In-Made is a network of production companies in Dutch prisons. Here, inmates learn a trade and earn recognised practical certificates as a basis for a new start.
