Frequently asked questions answered
From burning instructions to sustainable tips: here we address the most common questions for the best Luminlique experience.
We choose rapeseed wax because it is a renewable, European alternative to paraffin. It burns cleaner (less soot) and has a lower ecological footprint, which perfectly aligns with sustainable business practices.
Our designs have different burn times. This depends on the conditions in which the candle burns and how the candle is stacked.
- Small candle: ± 9 hours
- Medium candle: ± 11 hours
- Large candle: ± 15 hours
For optimal results, we recommend allowing the candle to burn the first time until the entire top layer has melted. Trim the wick to about 5 mm before each use. This ensures a calm, stable flame and prevents soot formation.
Due to the unique, artistic shapes of our candles, the burning may vary. If the candle burns unevenly, we recommend extinguishing the candle and allowing the wax to fully solidify. Then trim the wick again to 5 mm before relighting the candle.
A flame that is too large or flickering usually means that the wick is too long; extinguish the candle and trim the wick back to 5 mm. A flame that is too small often occurs when the wick is cut too short or "drowns" in the liquid wax. In that case, carefully pour away a small amount of liquid wax to give the wick the necessary space again.
Due to the complex shapes and the larger amount of wax, these candles can drip. Drafts or an uneven surface can also exacerbate this. In that case, blow out the candle, let the wax fully harden, and trim the wick back to 5 mm before relighting the candle.
